Degassing and Decontamination for Refinery and Petrochemical Industries


Solv Klen III was developed for degassing and decontamination of process

equipment, piping, vessels and storage tanks in the petrochemical and refinery market. Solv Klen III helps these markets meet the ever increasing demands of system decontamination due to regulatory safety and environmental requirements.

Solv Klen III is a safe, non-hazardous, non-solvent-based product used to eliminate LEL’s, Benzene, Hydrogen Sulfide and Hydrocarbons from process equipment. Solv Klen III may be used in a fluid cascade circulation, in the vapor phase to reduce steamount times, or through foaming application equipment directly onto vessel and tank surfaces

FLUID CASCADE
A fluid cascade is recommended for towers and colums. A sufficient volume of Solv Klen III and water should be supplied to allow for continuous circulation through all

equipment and piping. The circulation fluid should be heated to a minimum of 150º F and circulated for a period of time depending on deposits present and size of the vessel. 

The goal of this process is to remove Benzene, H2S and reduce LEL’s to near zero. In addition the process removes oils, sludges and foulings by emulsifying them so they can be recovered with the waste water.


VAPOR PHASE
Where fluid cascading is not possible or time constraints won’t allow, Solv Klen III may be used to clean in the vapor phase. During the vapor phase process Solv Klen III

is injected into the steam during the normal steam out process and allowed to come into contact with all equipment surfaces. The vapor phase cleaning will provide much quicker vessel entry by significantly reducing steam out times.



FOAM
In storage tanks or vessels where steamouts or circulatory cleaning is not possible but LEL’s levels won’t allow entry Solv Klen III should be used in the foam phase.Solv Klen III should be applied in concentrated form with foam application equipment and applied as foam to all vessel surfaces and allowed to stand until permissible entry levels are obtained. Solv Klen III will encapsulate and mitigate the hydrocarbons thus eliminating the vapor phase hydrocarbons causing the elevated LEL’s.
